Lake Lure Music Fest
The inaugural Lake Lure Music Festival brings three world-renowned musicians to Western NC this summer. Violinist Chee-Yun's flawless technique, dazzling tone and compelling artistry have enraptured audiences on five continents. Charming, charismatic and deeply passionate about her art, Chee-Yun continues to carve a unique place for herself in the ever-evolving world of classical music. Houston Symphony Principal Clarinetist Mark Nuccio has been praised by critics of The New York Times for his solo, orchestral, and chamber appearances, describing him as "the evening's highlight," full of "mystery and insight," and "shaping his phrases beautifully, with a rich, expressive tone. Mr. Nuccio performed with The New York Philharmonic for 17 years. And the young award-winning pianist Scott Cuellar has given solo recitals at major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Bösendorfersaal, the Newport Music Festival, the Polytheatre Chongqing and the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in the People’s Republic of China. The evening's program also incorporates a narrative performance by Director Chris Dolman of Cape May Stage. All funds raised from the Lake Lure Music Festival will support Lake Lure Classical Academy and its students. The event will be held in the brand new 1,300-seat Raptor Center at lake Lure Classical Academy. The limited number of VIP packages are $125 and include a post -event dinner with the artists at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn & Spa. July 3rd Fireworks over the Lake
Come by boat or by car to celebrate our Nation's Independence. Family-friendly event sponsored by the Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge with support from the Town of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Village. Beach gates open at 8 pm. Fireworks begin at dark. Free admission and free parking in designated areas only. Arrive early and enjoy a picnic or dine at one of the restaurants located within walking distance. Coolers are allowed, but alcohol is not. No pets allowed inside the beach area.
Family Animal Encounter
July 4th is the ultimate summer holiday to spend with family and friends and Chimney Rock is the perfect place to do it. July 4-7 you can challenge yourself on our 32-foot climbing tower, take in the different views on one of our many trails and even get up-close to some of our wilder staff at the 2pm Family Animal Encounter.
Independence Day Sunset Fireworks Hike
This year, celebrate the Fourth of July with your family, friends, guests, and the Swannanoa Valley Museum on a 1.5-mile, moderate hike to the peak of Sunset Mountain. Here, Museum guests will enjoy an old-fashioned watermelon cutting, and then stay to watch the sun set and the fireworks explode over the town of Black Mountain. Hike leaders will share the history and vintage photographs of this most historic place over dinner. Bring a picnic, water, folding chairs, cameras, and flashlights. The Museum will provide watermelon and transport cargo to the summit.
15th Annual Lake Lure Olympiad
The 15th annual sports festival is three days of competitive sports events in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The festivities kick off on Friday starting with the Golf Tournament and into the evening at Rumbling Bald Resort with Opening Ceremonies, a 10K Dam Run and the 2 mile Couch to Cart Path Run. Competitors then wake up Saturday for the Lake Lure Triathlon consisting of a 750 meter swim, 22.3K bike and a 5K run along a mapped out course at the resort. Families can share in the competitive events with plenty of activities including the Junior Olympiad. Finishing the weekend is the ultimate racing challenge: the 5K run or 25 mile bike to the summit of Chimney Rock.
73rd Annual North Carolina Apple Fest
The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolina. We have been Western North Carolina’s Premier Family Festival for over 70 years. From August 30, 2019 through September 2, 2019 you can enjoy 4 days of fun including one of the most best known Street Fairs in the Carolinas with freshly picked apples, arts & crafts, festival food, and free entertainment at the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s beautiful Main Street. Broad River Inn is just a short 20 minute drive.
Dirty Dancing Festival
Experience the movie-inspired dancing, music, arts and entertainment with us Friday and Saturday. Friday starts with the Dance tents, entertainment, food trucks, wine and beer tent and then as the sun sets get nostalgic with a lakeside screening on Friday of the iconic film, Saturday learn dance steps, enjoy more entertainment, attempt the watermelon race or the famous lake lift. Rumbling Bald Resort does a great Dinner and Dancing under the stars on Saturday evening.
